Hallo!
Today I saw a Caesarean Section! (no pictures from the operating room, I know you all are so disappointed)
Apparently, the name Caesarean section, or c-section, originated from Julius Caesar, who was rumored to have been born this way ("cut from the mother's womb"). It originated as a way to remove the fetus from the mother before burial, if both mother and child died, but evolved as a way to save the baby. Fun fact for ya :D
It was a rather quick procedure, which I was surprised about. Also the patient was awake the whole time, but had no pain during the birthing process. The whole time I'm seeing this I kept thinking "man this is ideal". Although I would have to see a natural birth to see a real difference. I assume it is vast
I have seen some operations before, and it started out as a regular surgery, cutting someone open etc. etc. then BAM THATS A HEAD. THAT'S NEW. THAT'S. Woah! It was crazy!! The next thing I know a little baby thing comes out, and is plopped into this bowl and taken out of the theatre to be cleaned up. It was really cute and amazing and slightly gross. I also saw a complete female anatomy! It was really cool! Seeing this C-section made me realize how much I want to do this as an occupation. Bringing new life! How amazing!
We also will have pizza for dinner tomorrow! Success!
Also, Dr. Rohini gave us these beautiful carved Indian elephant keychains! What a wonderful gift! We were all very thankful.
I apologize for the face, its the only one I can make without looking tired and more blue than I already do (the room is blue...can you tell?)
Anyway, I also saw a boy who was injured from a hit and run today. Some poohead just rammed the side of his/her car into the side of this poor boy and kept driving. I again, felt very strong feelings, and was very surprised (and pleased) that everyone tried to have a positive outlook on it with lots of lighthearted jokes and good humor to keep everyone from panicking. This is something I need to remember I think as I go into the medial profession!
Finally, we had chinese for dinner, veggie style. It was yummy.
Also, I need to laundry again soon. Hopefully I won't dye all of my clothes blue like I did last time, though it did add an interesting twist to some of m
